Last night, Lady Gaga announced via her Facebook and Twitter pages that she would be teaming up with the digital pop star, Hatsune Miku on her ARTPOP Ball Tour this summer around North America. Gaga stated that Miku would be her opening act from May 6-June 3, though the Ball begins May 4th. And this is after she’d already announced KPop band Crayon Pop would also be an opening act. Known for her avant-garde wardrobe and bizarre performances, it isn’t really that odd that she’d want the digitally created idol to open for her. But what will the fans think?
If you didn’t already know, Hatsune Miku is a digital performer with a voice created by a singing synthesizer developed by Crypton Future Media and using Yamaha Corporation’s Vocaloid 2 and 3 singing synthesizer technology. Which means, there isn’t anyone with a microphone backstage singing for her, it’s all done through the magic of technology. Miku first appeared August 31, 2007 and has sense been a sensation for anime and music fans alike. She even has her own video game out; Hatsune Miku: Project Diva. She has held her own concerts where she preforms as a hologram directly on the stage.
You can find out if Miku and Gaga will be in your area by visiting Gaga’s website for all tour dates, locations and ticket information.
