Ubisoft just went public with the release of the final Assassin’s Creed game this year, Assassin’s Creed Rogue.
Taking place sometime after the french revolution, after Unity that is, you’ll travel far and wide as Shay, a former member of the Brotherhood who turned his back on them and after being painted a target sets out to eliminate his former allies. The game will reportedly have settings such as New York, the North East and the freezing winds of the North Atlantic Ocean. You can take a look at the first visage of the vigilante in a frozen landscape below.
It’s unusual to see his working against the brotherhood, maybe this is a sign of things to come for when Ubisoft delivers their first current generation exclusive Assassins Creed title. While there have been many conspiracy theories spinning around the interwebs, most of the anger has been designed by Ubisoft to be directed at the templars. For once players will be able to step into the shoes of the opposition and, if our prayers are heard, allow us some insight as to the infrastructure of the templar organization.
Of course, considering that the title is labeled Rogue we’re unlikely to get much corporate insight, but we’re still allowed to dream. Interestingly enough, Ubisoft has described Shay’s transformation as that from an “adventurous assassin” to a” loyal templar,” it seems likely that we’ll be playing through the time during which Shay was a part of the brotherhood and not just watch an excruciatingly prolonged cutscene describing what happened before we set out on the path of bloodfilled vengeance.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue will be released on November 11, 2014 and will launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
